Creating Your Farm

Set up your first organization

Overview

An organization in SmartFarmPilot represents your farm or business. It's the central hub where all your data lives - customers, products, orders, and more. You can create multiple organizations if you manage several farms.

Step 1: Access the Create Form

After signing up or logging in, you'll see the organization selector. Click "Create New Organization" to open the creation form.

Step 2: Fill in Your Farm Details

Enter your organization's name and URL slug. The form below shows exactly what you'll see - try filling it out!

Create New Organization

Enter the name of your farm or business

Your farm URL: smartfarmpilot.com/your-farm

Understanding the Fields

  • Organization Name: The display name for your farm (e.g., "Green Valley Farm", "Sunny Acres"). This appears in the dashboard and reports.
  • URL Slug: A unique identifier used in your farm's URL. It's automatically generated from your name but can be customized. Use only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens.

Step 3: Start Using Your Farm

After clicking "Create Organization", you'll be taken to your new farm's dashboard. From there, you can:

  • Invite team members to collaborate
  • Add your first products to the catalog
  • Import or create customer contacts
  • Set up your preferences and settings

Tips

  • Choose a memorable slug: Your customers might see this in shared links, so keep it professional and easy to type.
  • Multiple farms: If you manage separate operations, create a separate organization for each to keep data organized.
  • Can't change slug later: The URL slug is permanent, so choose carefully!
